India has 7,516 kilometres of coastline which comprises 5,422 kms of mainland and 2,094 kms of island territories with nine coastal states and two major island groups. Tamil Nadu has a coastline of nearly 1,076 kms, accounting for 13 % of the nation’s coastline. Tourism, economy, and livelihood of many are directly dependent on coastal areas. It has greatly contributed towards generating revenue, employment, and business opportunities. But over time, ocean and coastal health has deteriorated, directly affecting marine biodiversity as well as the livelihood of many. To address this issue, a unique initiative was conceptualized towards cleaning and beautifying beaches as well as fighting marine pollution. The Ministry of Earth Sciences in collaboration with SuperHumanRace launched the Namami Tate, a nationwide beach clean-up and awareness campaign. Namami Tate Is a campaign brought to you by the Ministry of Earth Sciences in collaboration with the Government of India. This campaign is part of the Government of India’s 75 week celebration of Azadi ka Amrit Mohotsav. Through Namami Tate, we are targeting cleaning of some of the dirtiest beaches of India with the help of the Government as well as fellow citizens.

Coastal Guards should be very strict. Should not take advantage of misconducting people and make money. They should strictly watch the coastal area occupiers and users and stringent actions to be taken on the erring public and also on the erring Coastal Guards or Coastal Police personnel. Big banners announcing Fines/Legal Actions, etc should be displayed throughout that area. 24x7 vigil should be done through Guards/Police, CCTV, Drone Cameras, etc. State/Central Govt connected Drone cameras.
